Project Aim

Paranas, Samar, Philippines, is located in Eastern Visayas in the Samar Province and in the 2nd District of Samar. It is home to about 30,557 individuals who mostly live in rural communities. Like their ancestors, their current livelihoods  consist of farming and fishing.

The project's aim is to develop design ideas for an integrated biomass energy system that meets all of the energy needs for our coconut processing facilities while optimizing cost-effectiveness and simplicity. Our deliverable requirements for this project are not rigid and we are open to anything that will benefit the development of Coco Asenso's energy system. Coco Asenso is stationed in Paranas, Samar, Philippines, where many of the rural communities grow coconut. They are focused on helping

coconut farmers by providing sustainable practices in their coconut processing facilities  purchasing the local coconuts for their facility. Coco Asenso, currently, has one facility open and are planning on opening a second one in the next few months to come. We are determining if coconut husk is a viable option in producing biocharcoal or if it is an energy source for the facility to utilize through gasification or pyrolysis.

When comparing the US to the Philippines, more children are more likely due die between the ages 1-59 months while individuals are making less money.  There are also more family workers that are in poverty compared to the US.

Here is the outline of what we are trying to achieve for Asa Feinstein, the founder of Coco Asenso.
